UFC Rio 3 update

The dreaded injury bug is not settled till it destroys something great! The UFC injury bug in one day almost killed what the UFC have spent months planing. A Dream fight between Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo was going to be the main event with Rampage Jackson and fast rising star Glover Teixeira slotted to be the co-main event, but Jackson and Aldo both pulled out due to injuries.

The UFC after the blunder of 151 were no way on earth going lose another card, the UFC shelved Edgar who will more then likely meet Aldo down the road. In steps what could have been 151’s hero Anderson Silva, who will now face Stephan Bonnar in a Light Heavyweight affair. The bout will be 3 rounds which will pit all time great, against a fighter who has fought all time greats Bonnar is on the losing end of all his fights with fighters who have held the UFC belt.

Antonio Nogueira and Dave Herman have also been added to the card, Herman is coming off back to back finishes losing to Stefan Struve and Roy Nelson. Nogueira will look to right the ship after having his arm brutally broken by Frank Mir, Nogueira is 1-1 in his last 2 fights.

With Teixeira still with out an opponent, the UFC will hand him a fallow countrymen in Fabio Maldonado, Maldonado 0-2 in his last 2 fights has yet to be KO’d in his MMA career but that could change as he meets his toughest competition yet. Teixeira came in to the UFC riding a tidal wave of hype and he delivered quickly forcing Kyle Kingsbury to tap.
