Below you will find my predictions for tonight’s UFC on FX 1 main card. The reason I am only doing the main card is that I just don’t have the time to break down every fight.
Pat Barry vs. Christian Morecraft
Since coming into the UFC, Christian Morecraft has gone an unimpressive 1-2. However his losses have come to seasoned veteran, Stefan Struve and up and coming talented heavyweight, Matt Mitrione. And to lose and go to 1-3, might not be the best career move as we have seen people get cut for a lot less in the UFC. However, with the heavyweight division in the shape that’s it in, win or lose he might keep his job. Morecraft’s opponent is Pat Barry. Who also has struggled since coming into the UFC by losing his last two fights and having an overall UFC record of 3-4. Same scenario for Barry as another loss might cost him his job however until they bring all of the Strikeforce heavyweights over, they need all of the big guys that they can have. With that being said, both guys are coming into this fight needing a win and highly motivated to do so. I believe Pat Barry will be the more motivated and technical striker in this fight and will show in the 2nd round when he either TKO’s or KO’s Morecraft.
Prediction Win – Pat Barry via 2nd round (T)KO.
Mike Easton vs. Jared Papazian
This is Easton’s sophmore appearence in the UFC and they call him “The Hulk” for a reason. At the weigh in’s yesterday, Easton looked like a lightweight, not a bantamweight. Coming off of a TKO victory over Byron Bloodworth in October of 2011, Easton is riding high with confidence. However, standing accross the cage from him will be, Jared Papazian who is making his UFC debut and want to prove himself. Not taking anything away from Papazian as I think he is a great fighter, but I don’t think it’s going to go his way tonight. I see another TKO victory in Easton’s future.
Prediction Win – Mike Easton via 3rd round (T)KO
Duane Ludwig vs. Josh Neer
Not that I am not excited for the main event, but I am the most excited for this fight as I think it’s either going to end really quickly, or it’s going to be a war. Recently, Ludwig was awarded by the UFC with the fastest KO in the promotions history. Ludwig had been lobbying for this for quite some time now and I was one of the MANY supporters. Ludwig comes into this fight on a two fight win streak with victories over Amir Sadollah and Nick Osipczak so is momentum is in a great place. Neer is no rookie when it comes to the UFC either, having an overall UFC record of 5-8. Obviously he has struggled within the industries top promotion, he brings a lot of experience to the table. No matter how this fight ends, I think Ludwig is the better fighter here and will prove that tonight. We won’t see a new record breaking KO, but I feel it will end by the 2nd.
Prediction Win – Duane Ludwig via 1st or 2nd round KO
Melvin Guillard vs. Jim Miller
To be 100% honest with you, I have NO prediction on this fight. It’s too hard for me to decide on a winner. A lot of people are saying that if Guillard doesn’t KO Miller in the first, Miller will win. How ever safe of an assumption that is, I just don’t know if that’s true. I think Guillard learned a lot from his last lost (Joe Lauzon) and will play it a little safer this fight and be smarter and more technical. Especially since the winner of this (in my opinion) is right back in the title hunt again. Both men bring an exciting style to the fight and can end at any moment. Look for an exciting fight and probably either the KO, submission or fight of the night award. Enjoy the fights tonight!
