UFC on FOX 5 gets a Title Fight

By Josh Reese

November 11, 2011 UFC on FOX 1 happened and if you don’t remember, it was for the Heavyweight title shot between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos, 1:04 seconds in to the one fight main card JDS had taken the belt from the champion Cain Velasquez. Since that fight 3 other FOX cards had been put on with its shares of ups and downs the and with one last FOX for the year, the UFC has decided to give you Christmas early December 8th to be exact.

So far 3 fights have been announced the UFC Lightweight championship belt will be on the line as Champ Benson Henderson will take on Nate Diaz. Light Heavyweight standouts Alexander Gustafsson and Mauricio Rua will fight to be the next LHW contender. The final fight announced is the Welterweight fight between B.J. Penn and Rory MacDonald, so far the UFC has giving you 2 fights that are worthy of being Co-Main eventers.

Benson Henderson (17-2) undefeated while in the UFC 5-0, he is the current UFC belt holder and the former WEC belt holder and aside from the cage kick from Anthony Pettis we would be riding a 16 fight win streak. He may be involved in controversial fights but, fact is he wins and he has won alot.

Nate Diaz (16-7) since returning to Lightweight he has been a killer mowing down 2 strait LW’s and 3 overall his last 2 fights have been the systemic destruction of Jim Miller, and Donald Cerrone. One of the most exciting fighters on the UFC roster he always brings just about everyfight 5 fight of the nights.

Alexander Gustafsson (14-1) consider the white Jon Jones and is the consensus pick to fight the real Jon Jones next, he is riding a 5 fight win streak. He is a finisher, 12 fights ending before the final round.

Mauricio Rua (21-6) in his last fight, he just missed out being the next challenger to the LWH throne. He is coming off a TKO over Brandon Vera and before that he was involved in the what was considered one of the top fights of all time ever in the UFC.

The Rory MacDonald (13-1) and B.J. Penn (16-8-2) has already been booked and scheduled, it was 1st suppose to take place on September 22, 2012 at UFC 152. MacDonald suffered a big cut during training and was forced off the card and moved here.

This card should do alot in building stars as MacDonald, Henderson, Diaz, and Gustafsson could become big stars with strong showings on FOX prime time, keep in mind that this will be during football season and could receive big numbers with FOX rolling out tons of promos during FOX football games.
