UFC 151 gets a Co-Main event

By Josh Reese

September 1, 2012 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada will be the host for the Light Heavyweight Championship match between Jon Jones and Dan Henderson. This fight was booked a long time back and for a long has been missing a good dance partner. Now the UFC announced a pretty solid match up for the Co-Main event, will be a Welterweight match up between to very top contenders. Josh Koscheck (17-6) vs. Jake Ellenberger (27-6) both men are coming off a loss and both men with a win could be 1 fight away from a dance for the Welterweight belt.

Koscheck just 3-2 in his last 5 fights has ridden up and down, he has faced nothing but the top Welterweights in the world in those fights. His 2 losses came against Georges St Pierre in a 5 round unanimous decision and his most recent loss came to Johny Hendricks in a split decision in a fight that really could have went either way. He like Middleweight contender Chael Sonnen is a great trash talker. He has already came up short against GSP twice and likely will not get a third, if we wins against Ellenberger he needs to pray Carlos Condit beats GSP.

Ellenberger was on the verge of Welterweight greatness since his entrance into the UFC his only real loss was his last fight to Martin Kampmann. His other loss was his first fight in the UFC against Condit, but you could make a argument that we won both those fights a very close split decision to Condit, and a against Kampmann he had a chance to TKO him but the Ref let the fight go on and Kampmann came back to TKO him. A win against Koscheck he will find himself right back were he left off, one win away.

Per fightmatrix.com both Ellenberger and Koscheck are top ten fighters with there last loss coming to top ten fighters. Ellenberger is ranked as the number 7 Welterweight and Koscheck is ranked just a touch lower at number 9, great match up between top fighters.
