Ultimate Fighter Season 14 winner Diego Brandao (14-7 MMA, 1-0 UFC) makes his return to The Octagon for the first time since winning TUF. He will be taking on featherweight standout, Darren Elkins (13-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) at UFC 146.
Brandao who was very impressive on TUF 14 put a huge exclamation point on the season when he submitted Dennis Bermudez in the 1st round at The Ultimate Fighter Finale. It looked as though Bermudez might have been on his way to victory when we saw an insane scramble and top notch Jiu Jitsu skills in Brandao when he caught Bermudez in an arm bar with only 9 seconds left in the 1st round.
Elkins who has been in less professional fights then Brandao, actually brings more UFC experience to the table. This will be Elkins’ 5th fight under the UFC banner and has been quite impressive this far. He holds wins over the likes of Duane Ludwig and Michihiro Omigawa. Omigawa is part of Elkins’ current two fight win streak which includes his most recent victory where we saw him defeat Tiequan Zhang at UFC 136.
Both men are looking to make waves with the UFC’s featherweight division and a victory for either man should propel them up in the ranks.
