UFC officials announced earlier today that George Sotiropoulos (14-4 MMA, 7-2 UFC) has been forced out of his UFC 144 bout with Takanori Gomi (32-8 MMA, 1-3 UFC) due to an injury.

Eiji Mitsuoka (18-7 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has replaced Sotiropoulos to now make his UFC debut against Gomi at UFC 144.

Gomi, who has had a tough run so far in the UFC winning just one of his four bouts with the promotion. Most recently he was submitted by Nate Diaz in the first round at UFC 135 and also previously submitted by Clay Guida at UFC 125. You would think that this is a must win situation for Gomi as he will come in motivated to keep his job by defeating fellow countryman, Mitsuoka.

Mitsuoka is coming into his UFC debut on a two fight win streak with his most recent coming by way of unanimous decision over Bruno Carvalho at Dream: Fight for Japan back in July of 2011.
