One hour ago via Twitter, Shane Carwin has announced his official retirement from MMA. After nearly two years of fighting injuries and struggling getting back into action, the 12-2 HEAVY punching former UFC interim champion hangs up the gloves.
Shane went 4-2 within the UFC with ALL of his MMA victories coming by way of either knockout or submission. His last two outings were losses to Junior Dos Santos and the unification title fight vs. Brock Lesnar.
If you didn’t already know, Shane has a degree in Engineering and has a full time job so the will to compete may always be there, but he will not struggle to make ends meat like some fighters after retirement. From all of us at Fat Ninja Media we thank you for the awesome fights and wish you nothing but the best!
