Ronda Rousey collects another arm

Valley View Casino Center in beautiful San Diego, California was the home for Strikeforce’s Rousey vs. Kaufman card. The usual 9 fight, fight card was split between Showtime Extreme (prelim) and Showtime (main card) and did not lack excitement.
After all the questions coming in to the fight Ronda Rousey proved the distractions were nothing, coming in to the cage Rousey looked pumped and amped which was a dark contrast to her ring mate former Champion Sarah Kaufman who looked flat and seemed more like a dear in the headlights.

Rousey opened up quickly and forced Kaufman to the cage and quickly the fight was on the ground where Rousey latched on to an arm and after a few rolls, Kaufman was forced to tap.

the Co-Main event featured Middleweight standouts Ronaldo Souza and Derek Brunson, which resulted in another quick finish. Souza was able to counter Brunson’s opening furry with a solid shot which resulted in Brunson landing face first in to the floor of the cage. As Brunson tried to get back up Souza dropped him back to the mat were he quickly pounced and dropped to 2 more hits to his face and while he was clearly out Souza stepped off at did not keep adding on.

Welterweight’s Tarec Saffiedine and Roger Bowling both entered the cage on a 2-0 run but after 3 hard fought rounds Saffiedine out technique’d Bowling for the unanimous 30-27 win.

Middleweight’s Lumumba Sayers and Anthony Smith fight ended in the 1st round. Smith after slipping, decided not to get back up he stayed in his wheelhouse and after Sayers went to the ground it was over, Smith tossed up a triangle choke and it was over moments later.

In the opening main card fight Light Heavyweight’s Ovince St. Preux and T.J. Cook went just over 2 rounds and featured interesting back and forth. OSP went for broke in the 1st round which nearly cost the former football player. The 2nd round saw OSP grab a takedown, and then in the opening seconds of the 3rd saw Cook get put to sleep as OSP tapped him flush on his chin.

In Perlim action Bantamweights Miesha Tate and Julie Kedzie stole the show as the two ladies put their hearts on the line as the 2 went back and forth. As it looked the fight was over for Tate after being dropped by a kick to the face and as she went to the ground Kedzie jumped on her and followed up with ground and pound. While eating punches Tate was able to garb on to an arm and after a fighting it off for a while Kedzie was forced to tap.

Middleweight Adlan Amagov was able to TKO Keith Berry quickly 48 seconds in to the 1st round. Featherweights Hiroko Yamanaka remains winless in Strikeforce as Germaine de Randamie was able to stay standing while working just a little bit more. Randamie will take home the 30-27 unanimous decision.

In the 1st fight of the night Lightweight Bobby Green completely outclassed the undefeated Matt Ricehouse and earned himself the 30-27 unanimous decision
