Ring of Combat XLII

By Josh Reese

The Ring of Combat will look to satisfy your MMA hunger, they will put on 4 title fights! The Middleweight belt will be up for grabs between Mike Massenzio and Ronald Stallings Jr. It will pit Massenzio a former UFC’er against Stallings a onetime Stikeforce fighter. Massenzio is 1-2 in his last 3 fights and was forced to tap in his last 2 losses, Stallings on the other hand is 2-1 in his last 3 fights while forcing others to tap in his last 2 wins.

The Featherweight belt between Deividas Taurosevicus and Mike Santiago, Taurosevicus a former IFL’er, WEC, and Bellator vet is 2-0 in his Ring of Combat career which is also his last 2 fights. Santiago last 6 fights have ended in round 1 only going 3 and 3 he won his last fight via TKO.

Light Heavyweight’s Ed Gordan and Anton Talamantes will also fight for the Ring of Combat belt. Gordan a Ring of Combat lifer is undefeated in his ammy and pro career 8-0 combined, Talamantes is coming off a hard fought loss to current UFC’er Joey Beltran losing a decision.

The Bantamweight title fight is the most interesting matchup, and will pit fast rising prospects Jimmie Rivera and Joel Roberts against each other. 2 guys you might not have heard of but one fighter’s career could end up in the UFC with a win over his opponent.

Roberts holds ammy and pro titles and with a win on Sept 14th this will be his 3rd pro belt, he holds the Bantamweight and Featherweight PA Cage Fight belts. All 8 of his fights have ended by submission or TKO. His 3 losses come by way of 25+ plus fight veteran in Noe Quintanilla, a Bellator vet who he just barely lost to via split decision in Kenny Foster, and then a got caught by a UFC vet in Dustin Pague.

Rivera like Roberts is a multiple belt holder he has one loss in his career, almost became a member of TUF 14 but instead lost to the eventual runner up of TUF 14 Dennis Bermudez. He holds 2 5 round wins over Abel Cullum and Jared Papazian.

Joel Roberts shared with us “Jimmie is a great fighter he has solid wrestling and boxing and has very heavy hands, It’s going to be a great fight to watch.” We are of like minds this fight could and should steal the show.
