Rich Franklin (28-6-1NC) was going to face TV star Cung Le at UFC 148 but due to the injury of Vitor Belfort he has now been moved up one number and will now take on Wanderlei Silva (34-11-1-1NC) in a 190 pound catch weight fight. The two fought face before at 195 pounds at UFC 99 in Germany, Franklin took the win in a 3 round war against Silva.

Franklin since his fight with Silva, has went 1-2 with a decision loss to Forrest Griffin and a TKO from Vitor Belfort, and a KO win against Chuck Liddell sandwiched in between the losses. Griffin is TUF alumni, and a winner of the inaugural season with his classic fight between Stephan Bonnar.

Silva also has a TUF connection like Franklin although he never was a contestant, he was chosen as a coach for the very first season of Brazil’s TUF. Since his war with Franklin he has went 2-1, a quick loss to Chris Leben, and a decision win against Michael Bisping and a TKO of Cung Le.
