Last night, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (32-9 MMA, 7-3 UFC) weighed in 5 pounds over the 206 pound limit for his UFC 144 co-main event match up with fellow light heavyweight, Ryan Bader (13-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC).
In an interview that “Rampage” did with Ariel Helwani after the weigh in’s on Fuel TV he stated that a previously unannounced injury prevented him from properly cutting the weight due to not being able to do a lot of running.
“I cut 21 pounds, I just couldn’t get the last 6”, Rampage said. When Helwani asked Rampage what the injury was he did not reveal it as he said he didn’t want Ryan Bader going for it, but it’s mostly healed now.
Back in the UFC on Fuel studios, Jon Anik and UFC light heavyweight, Rich Franklin were discussing Jackson’s mindset for the fight. Rampage had this to say to Rich Franklin;
“Rich Franklin needs to watch his mouth before I smack him the next time I see him. He is a fighter just like I’m a fighter.”
