Rafael ‘Feijao’ Cavalcante remember that name? If you don’t this is the man that destroyed Mike Kyle (33 second submission) last month in San Jose at the Heavyweight grand prix finale. The uproar was that Cavalcante should be brought up to the UFC quickly to add depth to the 205 division, well not so fast my friend. Mmafighting.com confirmed yesterday that Cavalcante tested positive for a banned substance, and will be suspended one year and fined 2,500.
Cavalcante’s management will file for an appeal calming his innocence but it is rare for a decision to be overturned. Cavalcante follows other high profile current and ex strikeforce fighters getting a year suspension, Nick Diaz, King Mo, Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, and Alistair Overeem.
Cavalcante is also at risk of his win turning into a NC like what happened to Cyborg and King Mo. It was rumored he could have been fighting for the StrikeForce belt in Portland but this almost 100 percent kills that plan.
Below is his most recent win, did a banned substance help him?
