XFC Officials announced that Patricia Vidonic (5-2 MMA, 0-0 XFC) will be taking on Felice Herrig (5-4 MMA, 0-1 XFC) at XFC 17.
Herrig, who was the IKF Women’s Bantamweight North American Champion in 2005 and 2006 is coming off of a disappointing unanimous decision loss to Carla Esparza at XFC 15 will look to get her first win under the XFC banner. Felice Herrig now trains under Jeff Curran in Crystal Lake, IL. Herrig is quite the skilled striker as he also won the 2008 Pro Muay Thai United States Bantamweight Title. However with two of her five victories coming by way of submission, she is also showing she is evolving as a mixed martial artist.
Originally from Montana, Patricia Vidonic was on a five fight win streak until she lost to female standout and Bellator veteran, Jessica Aguilar earlier this month. With three of her five wins coming via submission, Vidonic will look to bring this fight to the ground and secure a victory over the talented Herrig to once again get into the win column and make a statement within female MMA.
XFC President, John Prisco has this to say;
“Patricia and Felice is going to be a war”, explained Prisco. “Both of these women are top of the food chain. Now, Patricia Vidonic isn’t a household name but she has quietly built a reputation around the country as one of the toughest women fighters around”, said Prisco. “Her last three wins were all by submission. She has held titles and taken all comers. Patricia isn’t one of these fighters that takes easy fights and pads her record. She just went toe to toe with Jessica Aguilar last week. She came up short when it went to the judges, but she almost caught Aguilar in a couple of submissions. Patricia is the real deal, I know she’s hungry and sees Felice as someone who is in her way. This is a big fight for both ladies and Women’s MMA. I’m proud to have both of these women on the XFC card in Jackson.”
XFC 17: Apocalypse will take place at the Oman Arena in Jackson, TN on April 13th and will air live on HDNet.
