Dana White earlier in the week said the winner of Vera and Shogun would get the next title shot. The fans lashed back and then White changed his tune and instead said the who ever looks the best out of the Co-Main and the Main event will get the coveted title shot. The Brazillans both made a clean sweep both finishing there fights, Machida KO’d Bader in round two, while Shogun finished off Vera in the 4 via a TKO.
Unfortunately for Shogun he looked gassed early and at times some where else, and managed to make a middle of the road Brandon Vera look like a really great fighter. Shogun ate plenty of elbows, punches and kicks from Vera, but was able to hang on. The championship rounds were newer to Vera and as they entered the fourth Shogun was able to outlast Vera, no doubt Vera earned respect and will be back but it wont be for a title shot anytime soon.
Simply put the Dragon is back, the puzzle got more confusing, Machida weighed in at 201 and had many people wondering if he will make a drop to 185. That may come but with his exciting finish over Bader, he now has unfinished business at 205 we will get a shot at the belt he lost at UFC 140 a fight of the night he eventually lost to current Light Heavyweight champ Jon Jones. Bader was quoted as saying “I definitely felt like I had to be the one to engage and force the issue since he never did” he failed to realize is that counter punches is Machida’s game and in the 2nd round Bader ran in and was dropped and finished.
