Last ever Strikeforce recap

By Josh Reese

Its gone…. I hope you didn’t miss it Strikeforce is now no longer….. The Welterweight belt changed hands for the very last time. After 5 full rounds of leg kicks Tarec Saffiedine was able to slow Nate Marquardt down and kick his way to a unanimous decision. Daniel Cormier and Josh Barnett did what every thought they would do, finish and dominate. Strikeforce should have used the Gegard Mousasi vs. Mike Kyle fight as a way to give us and them a last Light Heavyweight champion, but instead it was just another fight.

Mousasi one of the best 205’ers not in the UFC was able to showcase against a top striker in Kyle, forcing him to tap in the last minute of the 1st round. The only UFC fighter to cross over was Ed Herman, and chances are he now wishes he would have stayed in the UFC, Ronaldo Souza used his outstanding grappling and BJJ to quickly end the fight giving him 14 finishes in 17 fights.

Its unclear who will come over to the UFC but you can bet that, who ever doesn’t get picked up by the UFC won’t have to sit out for very long. Regardless of what happens we can’t wait for these guys to find work and although we are sad by the way Strikeforce ended we are happy about the memories the gave us.
