Have anything to Labor Day weekend? Well you do now! September 1st, the Light Heavyweight belt will be on the line. Jon Jones (16-1) will take on Dan Henderson (29-8) in Las Vegas. Dana White announced the match up via twitter, which he has a habit of doing a lot.
Jones has 7 wins from his last loss a DQ against Matt Hamill for illegal strikes. He took the belt from Mauricio Rua at UFC 128 via TKO. Since that night he has beaten former Champ after Champ, 3 in a row since claiming his belt. Jones has beaten some of the world’s best, which in turn makes him one of the world’s best.
Hendo on the other hand has been in MMA since Jones was 10 years old. Hendo is a UFC, Pride, and StrikeForce veteran. He won UFC 17’s Middleweight tournament, Pride’s Welterweight belt, StrikeForce’s Light Heavyweight belt, and he is only the 4th man to beat Fedor Emelianenko. Needless to say Hendo has any insane amount of experience and could prove to be Jones’s toughest test to date.
