Fights to make after UFC 153

By Josh Reese

What fights should be made after Rio 3, after a great card we all are wondering whats next for the winners… This is my attempt at playing Joe Silva, these are the fights that I think make sense.

Middleweight – Anderson Silva (33-4) after another win he has few fights left (on contract), yes he should face Chris Weidman, Michael Bisping etc. The fight that more than likely will happen is the super fight every one and there mom wants Silva vs. GSP (more likely) or Silva vs. Jones (less likely)

Heavyweight – Big Nog (34-7-1-1NC) this is a more interesting fight to ponder, 3-3 in his last 6 fights alternating wins and losses. If Strikeforce really closes its doors a 3rd fight whit Josh Barnett would be sweet, but if not Cheick Kongo would be good 2 old vets hammering it out for a top 10 spot

Light Heavyweight – Glover Teixeira (19-2) 17 wins in a row, he is a freak and could be an eventually challenge Jon Jones. For now Teixeira still wants to fight Rampage, but it’s more likely Phil Davis (10-1-1NC), Dana even said maybe and that’s almost like a done deal.

Welterweight – Jon Fitch (24-4-1-1NC) this is the easiest one pick of all the fights that happened in Rio, Fitch has to fight Jake Ellenberger next done deal for a top contender.

Welterweight- Demian Maia (17-4) with his shots at Welterweight has had 2 quick fights and is in need of a real top 170’er Mike Pierce would be a real test grappler vs wrestler

Featherweight – Rony Jason (12-3) he won the 1stBrazilian TUF he then beat an American TUF’er, Jason has good skills and a strong chin. How about one more former TUF’er before he moves on to top 25 talent Akira Corassani would be a decent match up.

Lightweight – Gleison Tibau (26-8) the problem with Tibau is that he has fought just about everyone at 155, he isn’t a top guy so facing a top 10 guy is unwise. A big name he has yet to face in his career Jamie Varner would be a decent fight for the two

Featherweight – Diego Brandao (15-8) since wining TUF he has been on each side of a one sided beating. Time to try a name again Nik Lentz looked great in his 145 debut a match between the two could decide who is here to stay.

Welterweight – Sergio Moraes (7-2)I don’t believe he is here to stay and I don’t believe he is a good Welterweight but “IF” he dropped to Lightweight he could be the best grappler in the division. Papy Abedi is coming of a loss but they would be in the same atmosphere if they fought

Middleweight – Chris Camozzi (18-5) with 3 wins a row it is time for a top another 25 fighter, Brad Tavares would be a good test between the two, both are riding win streaks.

Lightweight – Cristiano Marcello (13-4) he really lost this fight, so you gotta wonder if he fights a fighter of the same skill level would he lose? Myles Jury a former TUF Live fighter would be a good test to see were the two are at in the division.
