UFC President, Dana White has confirmed via Twitter that the 3rd announced bout for UFC 146 has been signed.
Undefeated standout, Edson Barboza (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) will be taking on the two fight win streak brawler, Evan Dunham (13-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC).
Barboza who has now won all four of his fights within the UFC is coming off of an insane spinning heel kick of Terry Etim at UFC 142. With victories over the likes of Ross Pearson and Anthony Njokuani as well, another impressive win for Barboza we may very well here Dana White say the words, “He’s definitely in the mix” if asked about Barboza being a possible lightweight title contender.
Dunham, who was on a four fight win streak that was halted by both Melvin Guillard and Sean Sherk will look to make it three in a row and once again climb the lightweight ranks. Dunham, who was on a four fight win streak with victories over Tyson Griffin and Efrain Escudero was certainly very close to a lightweight title shot when he was set back by two losses consecutive losses to both Sherk and Guillard. Dunham’s victory over Nik Lentz at UFC on Fox 2 won fight of the night honors which saw the fight end when Lentz could not continue.
UFC 146 takes place on May 26th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. UFC 146’s headliner is expected to to be the highly anticipated UFC Heavyweight Championship war between current champion, Junior Dos Santos and former Strikeforce heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem. Also slotted for UFC 146 is the return of “Mayhem” Miller who will be taking on C.B. Dollaway. Currently, these are the only three match up’s announced for the card.
