According to Dana White’s Twitter (@danawhite), he announced late last evening that the newly crowned UFC Interim Welterweight Champion, Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz have agreed to a rematch after what a lot of people have been saying was a very controversial decision this past weekend at UFC 143.
During the post fight interview, Diaz stated that he would be retiring and that he doesn’t “need this shi&#.”
Dana White said that he was open for a rematch depending on Georges St. Pierre’s health.
According to MMA Junkie, St Pierre has yet to comment and due to Dana White being in Brazil for the TUF taping, he was also unavailable for comment. Condit’s manager, Malki Kawa was “similarly unavailable” according to MMA Junkie.
There were a plentiful of people (especially hardcore Diaz fans) that were displeased with the decision, even though Condit’s game plan was almost perfectly executed.
St Pierre has obviously been very verbal about wanting to fight Diaz and obviously Diaz wants to fight St Pierre. Well, if this rematch happens, they very well might get what they both want.
