August 17th will mark the 26th installment of the East Coast’s largest and fastest growing show, Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC). The stacked card will take place at The Borgata in Atlantic City, NJ.
The event is headlined by a welterweight title fight between current CFFC champion, George Sullivan (13-3 MMA, 5-0 CFFC) and the always tough and Bellator veteran, Jesus Martinez (8-3 MMA, 0-0 CFFC). Sullivan, who fights out of Pellegrino MMA, has been on a terror since signing with the CFFC in April of 2012. He put together five straight victories with noted wins such as his most recent, undefeated Brandon Becker, TUF alum Julian Lane and Tenyeh Dixon.
The co-main event is also a title fight as UFC veteran, Charlie Brenneman (18-5 MMA, 2-0 CFFC) will take on Kyle Baker (11-4 MMA, 0-0, 1 NC CFFC) for the vacant CFFC lightweight championship. The CFFC lightweight title was previously held by former UFC lightweight, John Cholish. Brenneman, who was released from the UFC in September of 2012 has since dropped to lightweight and has amassed a 3-0 record since entering the new weight class. Baker will certainly be his toughest test to date since dropping to 155 pounds. Another impressive victory for Brenneman may get him closer to once again getting another chance inside the UFC’s Octagon.
So far the confirmed fights for CFFC 26 are as follows:
George Sullivan (C) vs Jesus Martinez – Welterweight Championship
Charlie Brenneman vs Kyle Baker – Vacant Lightweight Championship
