Bellator 80 Main Event?

By Josh Reese

So the only non tournament bout this season to headline a Bellator card was the fight between Eddie Alvarez and Patricky Freire, and now on this Fridays card is the Bantamweight weight fight between Joe Warren and Owen Evinger….. One of this things does’t smell like the other, true Alvarez and Warren are both former Bellator champions but Warren is not a conciseness top 25 fighter and Evinger, who the heck is Owen Evinger?

We all know Joe Warren, he is a gold medal wrestler and he didn’t start his career beating up nobody’s. He started his career in the Dream promotion over in Japan going 2-1 before being picked up by Bellator. While with Bellator he won 5 straight while picking up Bellator’s Featherweight belt, and since has lost 2 in a row including a fight for the Bantamweight belt in his most recent fight, both those losses coming by way of KO.

Evinger is the guy we don’t know, he started his career going 6-0 and while riding the winning streak he took a step up in competition and headed to Bellator. Since joining the promotion he is only has 1 win in his last 4 fights, and like Warren he is a loser of his last 2 fights both ending by way of a stop tapping out in his last two fights.

The complete line up is as follows

Bantamweight – Owen Evinger vs. Joe Warren
Wagnney Fabiano vs. Rad Martinez – featherweight-tourney semifinal
Vinicius Queiroz vs. Alexander Volkov – heavyweight-tourney semifinal
Middleweight – Darryl Cobb vs. Brett Cooper

Lightweight – Brandon Girtz vs. Mike Quinones
Welterweight – Robert Otani vs. Cristiano Souza
Lightweight – Cosmo Alexandre vs. Josh Quayhagen
Featherweight – Sky Moiseichik vs. Shanon Slack
Middleweight – Mike Bernhard vs. Joe Vedepo
Welterweight – Ryan DeRocher vs. Taylor Krahl
